Partaking in National Day festivities in style and comfort at these family-friendly spots where you can see the fireworks from… Boom! We’ve got you covered!
Time to get excited, folks – the sky will be lighting up once again to celebrate the biggest annual celebration in Singapore – National Day! Fireworks will be set off around Marina Bay (and select housing estates). Planning to catch the fireworks display in real-time instead of via the telly? We’ve got the top places to watch fireworks in Singapore to add to your hitlist.
Psst, the fireworks are expected to go off between 8.15pm to 8.25pm on 9 August 2023. And don’t forget you can catch the rehearsal fireworks every weekend in the run-up to the main event, too!
Where to watch the fireworks for National Day 2023 in Singapore
1. Esplanade Roof Terrace
Here’s an open-air rooftop that you should park yourself at if you want to spot fireworks. Expect great views here – the Esplanade grounds in the foreground, the waterfront, Marina Bay Sands in the distance, and of course, the fireworks display. That’s basically the star of the entire view! Be sure to get here early on 9 August; we reckon it’s going to be packed to the brim.
Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, 1 Esplanade Drive, Singapore 038981
2. Merlion Park, Esplanade Bridge, and Jubilee Bridge
Another great area for top views of the fun. Bag a spot early and bring along a portable charger if you do go.
3. Helix Bridge and Benjamin Sheares Bridge
You can get a pretty good view from these spots, too, we reckon.
4. Singapore Flyer
How about catching the fireworks from up above? Head over to the Singapore Flyer, where you can be 165 metres above ground and witness (and snap photos of) the amazing display. As each rotation lasts about 30 minutes, we recommend timing your slot really well. You wouldn’t want to miss the fireworks before you even get on or finish the trip before the fireworks start!
Singapore Flyer, 30 Raffles Avenue, Singapore 039803
5. Marina Barrage
Pack a picnic and capture some amazing family photos up on Marina Barrage as the fireworks pop behind you. The spacious rooftop area is ideal for families to hang out as well as the perfect spot for being wowed by the celebrations in the sky once the sun goes down. A great place for a family bike ride, too!
Marina Barrage, 8 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore 018951
6. Gardens by the Bay
Gardens by the Bay is always a sure hit with the kids when it comes to family-friendly activities, so why not head over to check out the domes and some potential fireworks? You’ll get views of not only the Marina Bay area where the fireworks are happening but the South China Sea too. If your ants-in-their-pants kids are not cut out for a sit-down meal, then bag some turf around the Bay East Garden for the best views from the ground.
Gardens by the Bay, 18 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore 018953
7. Bay East Garden
As mentioned above, if Gardens by the Bay is too crowded for your liking, we suggest hitting up Bay East Garden instead. Situated opposite Supertree Grove and the two conservatories, the location provides sweeping views of the Marina Bay Skyline minus the crowd. Plus, the littles can skate and scoot while waiting for the fireworks display.
Bay East Garden, 11 Rhu Cross, Singapore 437440
8. Millenia Walk
A little-known spot is this open-air roof at Millenia Walk. Head towards the Japanese restaurants on level two, where you can grab a quick dinner before the fireworks start. There’s plenty of space and benches for everyone to get a glimpse of the night sky.
Millenia Walk, 9 Raffles Boulevard, Singapore 039596
9. The Promontory
Kit out the fam in all your red and white best and park the fam-picnic at the Promontory this NDP celebration. What’s more, this waterfront spot is bang at Marina Bay and is perfect to capture unobstructed views of the fireworks in action. How cool is that? Our advice is to park your spot early and end your fam picnic on a magical note.
11 Marina Blvd, Singapore 018940
10. East Coast Park
Take the family for an evening stroll along East Coast Park. Pack a picnic (and the mozzie spray!) and pitch yourself a spot along the beach to watch the fun. You should be able to see the higher blasts of pyrotechnics – the best views will be towards the Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay park connector.
East Coast Park, East Coast Park Service Road, Singapore 449876
11. Singapore Sports Hub
Watching the parade on the telly too boring for you? Well, how about on a large screen then? As part of its National Day Fiesta, the Singapore Sports Hub will be holding a live telecast of the fireworks, not just on screen, but up close along the Stadium Riverside Walk! Plus, there are goodie bags and snacks to be redeemed – so best get there early!
Singapore Sports Hub, 1 Stadium Drive, Singapore 397629
